@thirdworldbb wears Le Ngok up-cycled bubble wrap dress featured on Vogue's September 2023 Anniversary Issue cover story.

Creating this piece took a lot of effort, and so much fun! From collecting all discarded bubble wrap from my neighbors and janitors to hand-cutting, sewing, and drawing piece by piece onto the base dress. It was tiring and time-consuming, but very fulfilling upon finishing the last stitch and seeing the transformation from the waste to something meaningful.
What's pretty cool is that I realized every material, even the common bubble wrap we receive from every online shopping package, has its own unique characteristics – different shades, thicknesses, and those air-filled bubbles that surprisingly add to the design's structure and flexibility. From my capsule collection 3 years ago "Wasteland of Tomorrow" to this piece, I still hold the same belief that being resourceful can elevate and sublimate creativity itself - it opened up a world of design possibilities to me.
